New Music Tuesday! On a Wednesday…

Sorry this post is late guys! Better late than never, though, right?

Here are the new and not-so-new tracks for the evening.

As I’m sure everyone knows, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys died last week. I’m not going to go on about it, because everything has been said already, and better than I would, but I will say that the Beastie Boys are one of the groups that if you are of a certain age and younger… you should like them at least at one point in your life, if not permanently from that point forward.

Anyway. This was always my favorite video… I love the sounds when you first see the robot. Aaaand of course I just realized that this is also their nerdiest video. Ugh, so predictable of me. Robots. INTERGALACTIC. Sometimes I make my own eyes roll about my own self. It still remains an excellent song and video and a good song to work out to:

This is some pretty ethereal goodness – a good song for working out AND cooling down.

And this is pure pop dance fun

New Music Tuesday!

It’s Tuesday yet again. Here is some music to pump you up and to calm you down, in a freaky way, kinda.

Calvin Harris… you’ve heard his music whether you know it or not… always a good fun time:

Also fun fun, Dragonette:

Maybe pianos calm me or weird creepy former opera singers do, but I’ve really liked this song of Austra’s since it came out:

New Music Tuesday!

Got a pretty fun mix of music today – I am excited about this group!

This one goes out to Dana who suggested this song:

This is a fun little dancey pop number:

This one has a good build and fall and build again, which I personally like on runs: (plus it’s just an awesome song, the one you sing REALLY loud to yourself in your car)

New Music Tuesday!

All this music comes courtesy of Carol who for the most part shares my brain when it comes to music, among other things. And she was a great hostess for me yesterday! Thanks Carol! and Mike!

And here are Carol’s workout worthy music:

Cold War Kids remixed by Passion Pit:

Oldie but a GOODIE Cardigans:

and super fun Neon Indian:

Anybody have favorite songs to workout to?

New Music Tuesday! (Updated!)

So I found Kimbra recently, who is apparently a great guest artist on other people’s songs. Here she is on Miami Horror’s song I Look to You, which would be a great running song. Or just one to dance to you alone in your room – sometimes you just gotta do that.

You may be like, hey that girl looks/sounds familiar. That’s because she is also featured in Gotye’s Somebody I Used to Know. Which if YOU don’t know yet, you probably will, eventually. It’s one of those songs. Luckily it’s one of those songs because it’s so good:

And I know I already did a Miike Snow song, but their album came out today on iTunes, so I figured it’d be good to remind everyone that they should get the album :) I wanted to do another song, but not all of them are up on the youtube yet. This one is still a pretty fun one to groove to anyway.

Wait! Found it:

More music!

I’ve decided to attempt to do these once a week now on Tuesdays. Because new music comes out on Tuesday… you know, it made sense. Welcome to Workout Music Tuesday!

Today we’ve got Santigold, via Dana. Thanks Dana! Santigold is one of my boyfriend’s favorite artists to rock out to in the car. That’s a huge endorsement from one of the pickiest music people I know. Here’s a new one of hers:

Secondly we have a lovely French woman, Yelle…I might choose to be her in my next life. She’s on the list. Not a new song, just a good one. And maybe it’s a new to you?

Welcome to the month of Hunger Games

This has nothing to do with anything, but I am just so excited about the movie coming out this month, I had to post this. Also, the song sounds really perfect for the feel of the story. Love!

Don’t worry, Seneca Crane, I already have my tickets!

Hopefully this will stay up:

And a clip came out today!

More music and down the nerd wormhole!

Which I realize now… is a nerdy title. Hey, you wanted this, though, right, when you decided to go to the Fit NERD girl page?

Here are some songs that pump me up, (in addition to these) which I realize is a personal thing. I am on a temporary hiatus/protest from working out to my go-to girl whose music got me going. Point to who guesses to who that might be! It’s really not that hard.

This will likely get you moving, whatever your tastes, and has the requisite build when you need a push.

And here is some nostalgia that quickly turned into nerdiness. Learn to love it!:

I used to run to this at the Y in London and they played just this song, another of Kylie’s songs, and a Snow Patrol song on their version of MTV there. I wasn’t complaining. At least they a) played music and b) it tended to be music I liked. Sigh, I do miss that gym. And London. Anyway, this song could get me through those last few minutes:

Speaking of Britishness. I am a serious anglophile and part of the name of this blog IS nerd, so I have no given myself reason to post this…

It IS motivating if you imagine the Daleks or the Cybermen chasing after you… or creepier, the Silence:

More music to come later! I promise it won’t always go in this direction….

Music to work out to

What kind of music do you guys work out to? Usually I like to listen to music with a strong and fast beat. Sometimes, though, a slower song can motivate me just as much. Recently when I run or walk I have been listening to First Aid Kit’s latest album. The music and lyrics inspire me.

Still, sometimes you want a really driving song. No pun intended!
